CLINICAL RESEARCH FACULTY POSITION
UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM
The Department of General Dental Sciences, University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry, invites applicants for a full-time, research-intensive, faculty position in clinical research.
Position responsibilities predominantly include research in a patient-oriented research discipline. Candidates will spend some of their time participating in the department’s clinical and teaching missions, but the position’s main focus is to develop a research program in clinical research that includes practice-based dental research and/or population-based research. The Department comprises several divisions and is the main administrative site for The Dental Practice-Based Research Network (www.DentalPBRN.org).
Applicants must have a dental degree and have advanced training in public health and/or clinical research, preferably with an MPH or PhD or equivalent degree. Candidates are expected to attract external research funding over time. Participation in intramural faculty practice is available for persons with Alabama licensure. Excellent written and verbal English skills are required. The faculty appointment will be in the Division of Behavioral & Population Sciences. The search will begin immediately and will end when the position is filled.

Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Faculty Position
The University of Alabama School of Dentistry is seeking applications for a full-time faculty position in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Academic rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Major responsibilities include didactic and clinical teaching at the post-doctoral level, patient care and research. This position is mainly clinical and the candidate should have an interest in major OMS surgery with a desire to teach residents. Fellowship training is encouraged. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a large Level I trauma and teaching hospital. Candidates must be eligible to acquire a license to practice dentistry and/or medicine in the State of Alabama. The position will become available June 1, 2010.

The UAB Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a clinical department within the University of Alabama Hospital. Candidates must be eligible to acquire a license to practice dentistry and/or medicine in the State of Alabama. The position will become available June 1, 2012.

Full Time Faculty Position

The Department of Orthodontics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham invites applications for a full time regular faculty member at the Assistant Professor level. This is a tenure-earning clinical emphasis track faculty position. Responsibilities include teaching human growth and development, research methodology to pre-doctoral and post-doctoral students. Qualified candidates must possess a DMD/DDS or equivalent and an Orthodontic certificate; and, MS, or PhD in a field related to Orthodontics. Priority will be given to applicants who have experience as clinic director, research administration, a track record of funding, state of the art 3D imaging research and translational device development, and who are recognized for contributions in orthodontically relevant research. Experience in supervising research or pre-doctoral dental students, post-doctoral residents and post-graduate doctoral candidates is highly desirable.
