Structure of the Comprehensive Care Program

The Senior Class (D4) is divided into five equally-sized Comprehensive Care Treatment Groups. Each Care Group is managed by a team of School of Dentistry personnel, including the Faculty Group, Patient Services Coordinator, and Senior Dental Auxiliary(s). The Director of the Comprehensive Care Program, Dr. Douglas Strain, supervises the entire Program as a whole. Dr. Sonya Mitchell works with Dr. Strain in these efforts, as Assistant Director of the Comprehensive Care Program.

CCP Dental Auxiliary

The Dental Auxiliary in each CCP Care Group rotates among students in their CCP care group to provide assistance using the techniques of Four-Handed Dentistry. It is the responsibility of the Senior Dental Auxiliary to grade the student they assist regarding Dental Auxiliary Utilization (DAU) and four-handed dentistry techniques and to work with the attending faculty to determine the daily grade of students they assist.
