Department of Orthodontics

Welcome to the Cyberspace location of the Orthodontic Department of the University of Alabama School of Dentistry. It is a department that our faculty, students, and staff are very proud of and strive to maintain as a leader in Orthodontics.

We offer a three year Master of Science in the Orthodontics Program. The Department is active in teaching, research, and service. Our Predoctoral students consistently score in the upper quintile of the National Board Examination and our Graduate students have all taken and passed the American Board of Orthodontics Phase II Examination prior to or soon after graduation. One of our Graduate students obtained the highest score in a recent American Board of Orthodontics Phase III written examination. The quality of our Graduate students is one of our proudest assets.

Research activity varies from clinical to basic science with a variety of areas of interest. All Graduate students complete research projects and submit their research findings for publication.

Clinical activities are state-of-the-art, supported by computer imaging technology. Patient treatment and service includes all age groups as well as orthognathic surgery, craniofacial, and cleft palate patients, and patients with temporomandibular joint disorders.

The Department strives to be at the cutting edge of Orthodontics and the faculty have a great breadth and depth of experience.
