Advanced Research Assignments
Several opportunities may be offered to students in their third year of study. Some students may choose to pursue an academic career; the third year is designed to provide additional tools for such a career choice. Some students may wish to write a grant suitable for submission to the NIH for funded research. Foreign students may be considered for admission to an advanced standing program leading to a DMD degree. Some students may wish to participate in the teaching mission of the School, either in the clinical or didactic arena. Depending on the course of study, students may be supported as part-time faculty of the School of Dentistry. The third year is variable, and is optional to selected students.
